Hey,
Just a heads up that we have our Barre Teacher Training starting in just under a month with Teacher Trainer Suzie Q, which is appropriate for anyone who is ALREADY a yoga, pilates, aerial or dance teacher.
I asked Suzie why she adores Barre so much, and this is what she shared with me:
"In 2013, after months of preparation, I flew to Singapore to compete in the Doubles Division of the International Pole Championships. During our rehearsal, while performing a move we had practised hundreds of times, my knee blew out sideways - I had completely ruptured my ACL.
That night, I made it through our routine on autopilot, with nearly an entire roll of strapping tape holding my knee together. It was a true test of our training mantra: “Don’t practice until you get it right; practice until you can’t get it wrong”. I walked away with a bronze medal and a pair of crutches... Ok, it was more like “hobbled away”.
Back in Australia, as I prepared for my knee reconstruction, I turned to Barre classes to rebuild the strength and stability my lower body needed. It became my go-to for both prehab and rehab and to this day, it remains a key part of my training. Barre provides an essential counterbalance to yoga, which tends to be more quad-dominant, by working the glutes and external rotators to to help keep hips and knees mobile and strong, creating a well-rounded approach to movement and injury prevention.
If you are an instructor interested in adding Barre to your teaching repertoire, join me at Nin Yoga St Mary’s on March 16 and 23 for our Barre Instructor Training. The training is accredited through AusActive (formerly Fitness Australia)."
